Thanks again for all the good responses.
I will have to take the sensor out first and check the item number since the engine isn't the original, the auto dealer threw it into the car about 50.000 km ago [circa 80 467,2 miles].
So the engine CAN be from lets say -94 to -06 [at least the work was done in 2006].

I hope to both see the item number on the sensor as well as the engine number when I unscrew the sensor.

Got the sensor out today.
Got the item number:
90492061

So thanks again people, will get back when I got a new item and got it into the car.
Hopefully will it start then or else I will be nagging for more options  ;)

So after a couple of weeks tweaking my Omega I am back.
Like everyone assumed, it was the sensor that was the problem.
At least after replacing it, the car started working again.

Thanks for all the helpful advices and pointers.
Now I can cruise with my precious Omega again!  :y

Thats good to hear :y Did you route the new one away from heat sources?? The original route causes premature failure of the crank sensor due to heat from exhaust etc....
