2.6 V6 eratic idling from cold??
« on: 08 June 2011, 22:59:17 »

I have done nearly all the bits and pieces I need to do on the car since I bought it and it has been running great.
The only problem I have is that whilst the car starts first time from cold on the button it seems to idle eratically and 'hunt' before settling down. When warm it starts fine and runs great and there is no loss of power. Also there are no fsult codes and it has had a full service including new plugs.
Please couldsomebody point me in the direction of what it might be?
Many thanks in advance.

Any number of sensors, any of which can cause problems on these migs! First try to see if there are any loose wiring connections to the SAI and that it works. It sounds like its a mixture problem which might be adjustable, sorry I do not know how to do that. I do know that my Secondary Air Injection system is still fully working and that on startup it blows more air into the plenum until the engine is warm. I think its a mix problem because if it settles down when warmed up that is when the 'richer mixture' stops just as the old manual/automatic choke method did.
When you start you should hear the electric blower of the SAI system start. The blower is located under the front left wheel arch.
