blanking egr on tractor
« on: 15 June 2011, 18:27:26 »

i blanked off the egr on our other car a 1.9jtd with a solid piece of coke tin in the gasket and left everything else in place and got a dramatic improvement in power, throttle response .everything, a much nicer car to drive.
question is -is this as simple to do with the tractor Ie just insert coke tin cutout into gasket on end of pipe?
Has anybody done this , I did a forum search but came up with nowt relating to diesels
Any thoughts comments welcome!

yep same applies BUT!!

coke tin will last around thousand miles if you lucky!!!
better to use sheet steel its easy enough to make it to shape and bolts iin there nicely, and even sheet steel will burn through in approx 12k!!
some people have used a coin at the manifold join but i have no idea how long that lasts personally i always do it at the throttle body end as its far easier!!! :y

If your egr works properly, you shouldn't really notice a difference, except better economy with egr...
