Screen Display
« on: 23 June 2011, 13:10:14 »

Guday,  I've recently been getting a warning on my dash board computer screen & not sure what it relates to.
It says  "LOW BEAM FLD/Vision"   & in the bottom r/h corner it says "check".
Can someone please let me know what it means & what i can do to remedy it.  Thans, N.

Have you got HID lights ?

A few causes...headlight adjusters may be broke...one of the sensor arms under the car may have "popped off" or one may be flubbered.

Message is basically warning you that at least one of the headlights is pointing at the wrong angle.

I had the exact same message on my Vectra when one of the xenon lights failed due to old bulbs.

Also, a broken headlight adjuster won't be picked up by the check control system.

Its either the sesor or the arm popped off the sensor or the motor that adjusts the HIDs to sensor movements is furbarred!  Won't be anything to do with broken headlight adjusters. :y

More unusual fault is a break in the wiring between sensor and motor - had it on the Estate - wire broken due to corrosion of the wire (insulator breached!!)

Neither Omega-B or Vectra-B monitor HID headlight bulb ;)

Really!? Seems strange the system will tell you if a sidelight bulb is out but not a headlight.
I definitely had that message on my Vectra, at the same time one of the headlights took on a purplish tinge. I managed to find a Vectra CDX in my local scrap yard so I ended up buying two replacement headlights (£35 for the pair, with both ballasts) and used one to replace one of my headlights (a mounting was broken from before I owned the vehicle).

Maybe the adjustment motor in the headlight was on the way out at the same time as the bulb and changing the headlight unit cleared the 'Check' message?

I was happy because I didn't have to spend around £45 on one D2S bulb, I also had a car with matching, unbroken headlights. Plus I sold the lights as broken with no bulbs for around seventy squid.

The system monitors traditional dipped bulbs, but not HIDs. Vectra-B is no different to Omega-B.  So yours was probably a naff motor ;)
