The dreaded tap tap tap.....
« on: 28 June 2011, 13:54:27 »

Seems like one or more of the followers have started to give up.  When cold the engine taps at idle but starts to go away as it gets warmer.  Then for a short period it only taps as the engine is decellerating.  Once warm it has gone.

What are the best ways to attempt a fix - a few short intervals oil changes, Wynns Lifter treatment, rip it all out and change them?

I would prefer not to do the last one as I have just managed to fix the cam shaft oil seal leak following the introduction of 3.0 cams.

Which way is it best done.  Treatment, leave in for a bit then regular changes or the other way round?

I have that as well, another job I have to get around to  :'(

I see there is no how-to on the manifolds... is that because it's a simple (in theory) job?

Actually heads off is not that bad passenger bank off first and on last due to coolant transfer pipe.
