Fault codes but nothing seems up?
« on: 01 July 2011, 22:05:23 »

Hi all,

Just picked up my first Omega and it has an intermittent engine management light coming on. I have done the pedal test and it has come up with these codes:

0170
0173
0300
0301
0302
0306

I have looked up the codes on here and know that they are misfire and fuel trim malfunction, but nothing seems wrong with the way the car is driving?

I have just disconnected the battery overnight to reset the codes and see if they come back tomorrow.

Can anyone throw some light on what could cause the codes?

Thanks in advance

Battery disconnect doesnt clear codes on an omega..

will reset some block learn data which may have an effect though.

Try disconnecting the MAF, it can effect all those, and the 2.6  / 3.2 ones are known trouble makers.  suspect it wants changing.  (bosch are recommended, but about £100)

Thanks for the reply, so if I do get a MAF sensor, how exactly can I clear the codes and get rid of the engine management light?

Thanks

Let's just slow down a bit here...

Check the coil packs and plug wells for damage/oil before buying any parts and give it a good service ;)

If you post up your location there may be a member local enough to have a look over your shoulder and clear the codes down with a code reader for you. Failing that you need a period of clean starts and no fault conditions to clear the codes :y :y

Aye, book and see him (via this site) he has the real deal computer (tech2) and should be able to prove where the fault lies.

My immediate thought isn't the MAF, but oil in plug wells.

Shame, I was over in Witney last weekend as well ;D
