Crank Sensor?

Took 8 Attemps to start car this morning. Been Fine Since. No Codes on Paperclip test. Did happen about 3 months ago when it took 3 or 4 attempts to start.

Am i right to be thinking crank sensor?

Sounds like it. Did it just keeping turning over but not sound like it was about to fire? Thats what happened to me. Then it would be fine for a while (months) before doing it again.

Mine was the crank sensor.

Only difference is that when it happened to me it wouldn't start at all that day.

Mine waited for the AA van to arrive and then started first time.  ::) ::)  He just followed me home and it never faltered. I changed the sensor the next day though.   :y :y

thats pretty much how mine went as well although I had a 19 fault code present when I bought the car but it was a year before it gave any issue :-?

LoL  Mine did exeactly the same ,  twice in one week ,  wouldnt start  but as soon as the AA guys tried it , started 1st time

just for general knowledge those who have changed they're crank sensor, how much did it cost parts n labour (unless you fit it yourself)  :y

when i got quotes for mine they started at £90 up to over £150  depends on the garage and if they really want to do it,  but i done it myself in the end so easy to do  :y

Had the same problem about three weeks ago, I had to get Green flag out he sisnt seem to know what he was looking for, in the end he just taped the bottom bit and it started . however, in the afternoon it failrd again and green flag had to come out again and take it into a vauxhall garage for repair .... cost  i sensor  £55.55, Labour £75,00 total inc.vat £156. 66   ok now through.

I replaced mine my self... took me 15 minutes to do... 
jack up n/s front corner, up to you wether u want t remove the wheel, look past the inner arch next to the oil filter and is there..  then if u can locate your HBV to the rear of the engine, the plug for the crank sensor is next to that..  mie was a small rectangular one.. though there are 2 different type.. one has square edges, and the other has rounded (make sure u get the right one).

Honestly mate.. its really easy to do..  and that comin form some who has ZERO mechanical knowledge...

It is.  :y If you unclip it and turn it around when you fit the new one there is no need to remove the scuttle in future if it ever goes again. Route the new one down the inner wing. As said, cost is about £55 or a bit less with trade card. :y

One of the easier DIY jobs though. :y :y  As already mentioned, do check the type of plug shape before you order the part.

When mine went it was temperature sensitive so I could drive until it got warm then had to wait for it to cool (at least 20 mins) before I could continue.

Seriously;  the car doesn't know you've called out breakdown cover. ;D ;D

Takes all of 5 minutes to change.If you need one changed, nip up and see me at work and I will show you how. :y
