DIS suspected
« on: 26 July 2011, 08:53:06 »

got the pinking noise & slight misfire on acceleration for a couple of secs then seems to clear itself, have renewed plugs, leads only 6 months old, cam timing is spot on & knock sensors both seem ok, any ideas where to look next & can a dying or faulty dis pack cause this?

When my dis pack failed 2 weeks ago the misfire was sudden (one moment driving along smoothly then the next a general vibration) and immediate and it didn't get any better. When you see how they fail in the maintenance guide its hardly surprising.

Replacement DIS pack arrived today, going back on the car tomorrow - provided the replacement plug lead arrives as well.
