Catera Project
« on: 22 July 2011, 03:07:39 »

Hey guys im currently working on my project car. 2000 Cadillac catera ( left hand drive). Currently trying to turn it into a Manual(standard transmisson) but i've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a Pedal box or clutch slave cylinder. are there any cars like the GTO which i can swap pedal box & clutch slave cylinder into. Hopefully someone can lead me in the right way.

Thank you ;D

no - you will need to source apedal box from mainland Europe.

GTO uses different bulkhead ( firewall ) and so the pedal box won't fit.

One of our European cousins should be able to sort you out.

pedal box and gearlever surround are the only things that are specific to Right-hand-drive

For my project im planning to do a whole engine swap & tranny swap. VIN 9 Northstar (Built Up n Force inducted) with a corvette trans. I just wish i could find a pedal box or be able to swap one in.

why would u say that a northstar wont fit. if a 5.7l can fit. im thinking a 4.6l would fit. im not worried about fabrications i can do that myself.

The view was that due to the Northstar being an overhead cam setup that its is wider and potentialy slightly higher than the Gen IV small blocks

not into an Omega. That engine isn't in Europe at all, and isn't there a problem with finding a manual trans for it ?

the most common small V8 to retro-fit over here is currently the Lexus V8, i think there's one in an Omega in Sweden ?

other than that LS1 seems to be the favourite

Although proper mechanics isnt my thing (by that i mean engine conversions and stuff that cant be done without a garage) how about the engine from an Rover SD1? I remember my boss putting one in a hilux many years ago without too much problem and that thing went like stink (given its heritage lol)

The Rover engine is one of the world's worst IMO.

You could spend £5000 on one and still not get to 300 horsepower.
