If it helps, when I repaired mine I open the door as far as it would go. Slowly but firm enough to bend the fixing back to somewhere near to where it used to be. Then disconnected the strap while the door was all the way open. Have done both of mine, one I welded back up and the other I made some plates up, was before I joined OOF and never thought to try vx. I agree about removing the speaker, gives you a lot more room and you can easily get to the back of the door to finish flattening the bent part before fitting the repair.plates
