Mother tunnies 3.0 Elite Estate had not had a run in a while, so took it for blast today (think plugs need changing as there appears to be occasional miss-fire)

But I noticed heavy wear on the outside edge of the nearside front tyre. Thinking camber is the problem here?

Offside drivers front appears fine, with minor inside edge wear. Mother T reports the one with outside wear does loose pressure (couple of PSI a week) but she is usually good at keeping it pumped up.

Tyre is near the end of its life anyway, but am I correct in thinking camber?

Trip to WIM might be needed i think?

Could be too little negative camber on that tyre but remember that's the edge that gets most of the wear when you chuck it into a  roundabout, especially if it's underinflated, so it will tend to wear a little more heavily.

I reckon if the tyre has worn to the point that it needs replacement and there's only now a sign of wearing unevenly it's barely worth worrying about. Then again, a geometry check won't hurt.

Rotating the tyres front-to-rear half way through their life helps too, as rear tyre wear is generally only on the central section of the tread.

Outside edge is practically bald, but main tyre has about 2mm left before it hits wear marker.

Hmm. That wear looks too far away from the edge to be camber.

Notice that the tread pattern is pretty shallow in that area anyway, so could be down to the design of the tyre.

It looks like the trailing edge of the tread block is lower than the leading edge of the next block.. I'm sure that indicates something, though I can't remember what - toe?

Suspect a Toe issue personally. But get it jacked and checked for the usual stuff.

A quick measure with a spirit level, and rifle site the front wheels with steering straight, to the outside edge of the rears should find the problem.

Any clonks driving over bumps with a load of lock on? Like when pulling into your drive?

Yep, now you mention it. Feathering of tread = potentially a toe problem.

Brackley has loads. Big buggers too. But my drive has 1 inch high lip, as does Tunnies as I recall(?), that when you swing in from the road gives a slight knock as it kicks the wheel back if there is track rod or steering knuckle play.

Yup, Brackley is full of speed bumps, those nasty ones too which are not full length, just big squares in the road 

Can't remember any knocks when driving it yesterday  :-/

Although it has a miss-fire underload I need to fix

Don't forget it has Elite suspension as well. It seems Elites are good at eating tyre edges

Although thats not shoulder wear IMHO, so I'd be looking at checking for play, then realigning it...
