Local Mechanic needed asap....water pump
« on: 16 August 2011, 20:47:02 »

Hi All,

Ok so the dreaded just happened, broke down and water pump has gone, water peessing out. looks like spindle snapped or summat and pully dropped forward allowing water out.

Got recovered to my home now need to sort things. Any help is really appreciated;

1) How much should it cost to replace water pump on 2.5v6 auto?

2) is it worth sorting out my cam seal leak and cam belt change at same time?

I am due to go on holiday in 11 days so cant really spare loads so a good cheap sensible repair for now is what I really need s I can get there and back.

Anyone near to B64 Cradley Heath fancy the job or can you recommend a good local garage I can it get it to?

cheers for the help in advance  :-/

I can't find the receipt for the water pump I bought from www.buypartsby but estimate it is about 30 to 35 pounds.

Easy enough job to do. You will need more coolant mix after. So factor in another up to 15 pounds for that.

Might be worth alter taking your car to someone like Darth Looknee at Stoke  for cambelt and cam cover fix. Sounds like your breathers may need cleaning.

Most "garages" don't know how to do Omega cambelts properly. They need changing along with the tensioner ecevery 40k miles or four years whichever comes first. There are some other guys on the forum who also do cambelt changes at great prices. Worth making the trip further afield.

Waterpump from buypartsbuy is approx £27 plus VAT and Delivery.

If you have the cash i would get the cambelt done without question if its due.

Wellung666 is in Dudley but not online at the moment, Daz aka Darth loo-Knee in is stoke or Elite pete in northwich.

Thanks for that, Unfortunately the car is stuck at my house, I can get taken close by if  needs be but Stoke is a little too far for me, Dudley however is pretty close.

I understand getting the cam belt sorted is ideal and depending on cash costs and flow I will sort. I need to get it worthy of a drive to devon in 11 days and as cheap as possible, on return I dont mind spending more if I have to but this side of the hols its pretty tight  :-/
