I always struggle to get the rear of the car high enough and supported, mainly due my jack being so big.

I've put it on a point which I think is same as DTM's in his guide, is this secure?  :-/





I'm also not sure if I've got it high enough for when I drop the diff  :-/

thats not supporting the bit that needs to swing down when you loosen the diff is it?

Better indication of height, last time we did TB's set i remember having to take the wheel off 



But looking at DTM's photo, I can't see where else the stand would have gone.  :-/

I tent to fit both the jack and stands where you have your jack positioned.

I do that when removing the rear wheels, for things like brake servicing, as I don't need much height. I have a small jack, which fits there nicely.

But the large jack which gets the car high enough, is too big to put the stand there 

The small jack is not man enough to get the car high enough, unless I remove the wheels to give me extra space  :-/

my jack looks bigger than yours and fits....just needs positioning carefully.

As long as the trailing arms can drop you'll be ok.

yeah it will drop ok I think, was just not sure if that position was secure enough.

You'll need to take the wheel off.  No need to drop diff - use spring compressors and the spring will come out/go back in no probs

Leave the jack in place and build up the area under the sill with wheels/blocks of wood/etc.as well as having the stand in place, as an insurance.Nothing worse than being under a car if your not completely happy that its secure.Makes it difficult to concentrate on what your doing I find.

Very true, exactly why the stands are there, plus jack. Wheels have been removed and placed under the sills

How much force should be required to pop the shock bottoms out of the recess in the rear hub assembly? Both appear to be stuck fast, do you just pull them out while lying under the car?

I've tried hitting the bottom part from the outside  :-/

I know saloons are different fit to estates.....but I found it easiest to undo the top bolt.

Saloons should be quite easy though I think

The foot saddle on my 3ton Yankee is larger than that on yours so i normally get it positioned at the back edge of the triangular plate.

Jack the rear up as high as needed ,for springs doesnt really need to be more than second hole on stand.

There is enough space to then get the "Y " of the stand at the back of the triangular plate to hold the car.

I fould best to also leave the big jack in place just let it down so holding on the stand and tighten up handle lock.

When dropping diff had a second smaller trolley with wooden block on the saddle and it allowed the diff to drop as required.

big hammer and the extension pole to my jack did the job, but now i'm confused. Done everything as per guide, Antiroll bar bolts, brake lines, shock bolts, 4 diff bolts removed, but the diff is not dropping?  :-/
