Very strange behaviour
« on: 27 August 2011, 15:43:57 »

Hiya, i would be grateful if anyone could advise me on what might be the prob?
I have a 2.5 elite auto, yr 2000. Today it started fine but as i started to pull away first the engine electrics warning light came on, then the automatic grbox warning on the display flashed up. Then more warning lights came on,followed closely by all the instrument dials like the speedo and rev counter not working. Then the warning lights proceeded to go on and off intermittently as i drove along.
After switching off the engine and restarting the same thing happened, started fine then on accelerating all the warning lights went on and off. When i brake the dials all start to work again. Car is idling fine, with no warnings. The s button on the gearlever is not working out now so i assume there is a prob with the gearbox but cant understand why all the other warning lights and dials are playing up?
Any ideas would be welcomed.

Just done the paperclip test and the two codes that came up were 49-Battery voltage high; and 73-Mass air flow sensor voltage low.
Any more clues?
