Not seen a fuel pump relay fail on a VX since the mid 90's on the pre Ecotec cars.

If you pop the lid off the main pump relay and press the contacts in with your finger, does the pump run?

hi mark could u tell me which one of  the 2 is the mail pump relay ? as when under bonnet there two purple relays which are the fuel pump relays . thanks

Fuel pump is rear right (usualy as you can swap them round)

we have swopped them round and when the ignition switches on we  can hear them energise then nothing if we try again with ignition there is nothing at the relays untill we take them out and in again .
  need this sorting as work again tonight . doing my head in

As said, pop the lid off the right hand side one and press the contacts together whilst the ignition is on.

Get somebody to check the fuel pump runs whilst doing this and also check for the fuel at the rail.

 took both tops off the relays and there making contact when ignition is on .

there were making contact but still no fuel in fuel rail so guess pump not working .as could not hear anything

tried all above and still nothing working dont know what else to do. might have to get some one out to it as need the car for work and was going devon a week saturday .

Lift the boot carpet and remove the metal inspection plate in the boot.

Check the fuel pump wiring connections and if you can, check for the presence of volts on the terminals.

checked the wireing all is ok .
  any ideas how to check the volts as no volt meter
 we put ignition on and used a test light and got nothing at all .

Use a test light and get somebody to press the relay under the bonnet.

ill try that one .

 just phoned up main deeler and ask how much crank sensor and told them about it there saying that the crank sensor would not stop the fuel getting through.

just an idear but can you get under the rear of the tank and above were the fuel filter is there is a wire or 2 and a plug see if it is still in??

Solar charger fitted.
If not Broke dont fix it..
