Front Cigarette Flap Problem.
« on: 31 August 2011, 00:21:23 »

Am sure it has another name....just can't think of it.

Anyway !  While on my hols I needed to open up the cigarette lighter tray to plug in my Tom Tom....it was a struggle to get it to sit at the right angle to plug it in..in any event.

Anyway !   Now the thing won't close properly...although it sits perfectly neatly...about 5mm away. How do you get the soddin thing out in order to check if a cable has got caught or something.

I can push it back but it feels like something won't allow it to sit back properly so it bounces straight back out....Any ideas please ?

pull out the ashtray and there is one screw in the middle which will allow you to remove the whole ashtray mechanism

Had this problem when I first picked up the car. The original sound unit was replaced with a Sony head unit and because a different panel was used the flap got stuck and prevented the ashtray from shutting.

I removed the inner tray and released the spring from the flap, now it works fine. The flap just does't flap right up now unless you assist it with a finger.  :)

Deuce !   Spooky. Mine is identical to how you've said...right down to the Sony headunit.

Inner tray ?   Please explain more before I fly in heavy handed !

Yep...got that..doesn't make any difference on mine..no matter what i do it just won't sit back correctly. It DOES go back and stay there BUT sits about 5/10mm proud of the rest of the fascia.

duggs after taking the inner tray out have you found the screw that holds the whole mechanism in?  (screw is right at back middle top) something is stopping it going back, which could be the aftermarket facia, this might need to be modded abit to allow ashtray to fit properly  :y
