Rear blind from a Preface/MFL into a Facelift
« on: 27 August 2011, 17:49:59 »

Anyone know if it is possible to fit the rear window blind from a Preface/MFL into a Facelift or were there difference's?

I have the chance to get one from a breakers and so would like to know before I even start to remove it.

And speaking of which, is it easy to remove and how do I go about it please  :-?

Thanks.

Just the blind itself into your existing shelf........hard work. Shelf & blind will go straight in but take the connector & short piece of loom from donor as your plug will/should be different

Cheers for that Rob & the hyperlink.  Most useful  :y

Had plans to take the shelf out as well as it's a rare dark colour one with black blind.

Just depends how much they want for the lot before I decide to start ripping it out  ;)

I've done it. Same part, different plugs. You'll need to solder a bit.

The actual is just a fiddly bit of work. Easier if no Bose present. If that is there then there are some nuts to undo and a big plastic shelf with the amp in it under the shelf in the boot to come out so you can get at all the clips.

Remove the six headrest tubes. Then there are plastic spring clips that hold the shelf to the metal of the body work.

It helps if one person is in the boot poking at the clips while the other person inside the back pulls the shelf away and then out it comes. The loom connector is on the right hand side as you are crouched inside the back.

Well I attempted to remove the rear shelf today, after following the guide in the maintence section http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152745304 .  However, no matter how I tried the damn thing wouldn't budge  :-?  Anyone else had hassle in removing the shelf, as I thought it would come out without too much trouble  :-/ .

Are you a man or a bird? Did you take a helper? I did say it was fiddly!

Just a thought. Did you remove the side parts of the seat back rest (bits nearest the doors) Also centre belt undone off the parcel shelf?

A piece of plastic like used for grouting floor tiles poked down the side of the rear pillars to ease the shelf up helps too. :y

Having to do it myself as noone able to help that lives near here  :-/

I'll use the few tips I've been given and try again tomorow and see if I have any luck this time.  I've basically done everything else as per the guide, so I've not got to go through all that again  ::) .

Thanks for the advise  :y

Why won't it come out? Are you sure you got all the shelf studs?

Inside boot..........look under near bottom of screen, should be three white plastic stud popper ends, squeeze each one and push in to release, inside car pull shelf from one side, might be easier for you if you remove the airflow grille at rear of shelf so you`ve got a handgrip

Going to double check I haven't missed any of the studs.

Does the airflow grill simply unclip from the cover using a flatblade screwdriver?

Yes you must have missed one, when it starts to move, it is tight, but it will come out.
If memory serves the grill unclips yes.
