Water pump
« on: 06 September 2011, 15:54:18 »

I'm needing to get a waterpump for my mig and wanted to know if there are any manufacturers to avoid?
My local BMF have offered me a "frontline" waterpump for £30 inc VAT

Vauxhallpartswarehouse, where I got my cambelt kit from are doing a waterpump for the same price plus postage.

Anyone know if these are any good?

TIA  :y

Cheers for that mate, but I've already got the cambelt kit and a fellow OOFer is fitting it all for me. I forgot it's best to change the pump at the same time  ::)

There are three types out there for the V6

One is based on the original design and has plastic impellers (leave well alone) as the impellers break off.
the 2nd type has a cast impeller works ok but the bolts for the water pump pulley are too long and hit the housing - so shorter bolts are required.

3rd type proper vauxhall one (made by quinten hazel) this type was the later vauxhall design used on all v6 models it has pressed steel impeller  - problem is vauxhall put the prices up overnight on this part so expect to pay around £50   - i have one for sale new £35 boxed with seal pm me if you are interested - or ask your supplier which impeller it has
