Blower motor failure?
« on: 22 August 2011, 10:06:13 »

Guys, I need your wise words of advice before I start pulling things out at random to see what's wrong. My blower motor stopped working about 3 years ago now, no hot air or cold. My first thought was the fuse, checked and seems fine. I managed to obtain another blower motor from breakers, replaced and still doesn't work. I took my old one and checked it by running the leads to the batt, it worked  >:(

So, I know it's not the motor itself, there seems to be power getting the the controls, I can hear the servos switching vents when I press the buttons.

The local breakers have an Omega in their yard, the last time I saw it the blower motor and resistor were still intact.

My question is this, is there anyway to narrow down the fault before I start pulling things out and replacing them all one by one  :-?

Was thinking that. Oh well, another thing to add to the breakers list then. Thanks Rob

Like for like. CC resistors are different to standard AC

Probably a silly question, but how do you go about getting the resistor out and is it easy?

Read the Haynes manual but be very careful I managed to snap both plastic securing lugs off ,it was very cold at the time, this is a disaster as there is then nothing to hold the resister in place

Does it just slide out? Had a quick go on it but it seems to only move on one side. Moved the securing lugs to one side but the resistor didn't seem to want to shift.
