What do you reckon?

Someone run into my car scraping it all down one side not that deep really but needs every panel spraying new door trim, door mirror, plastic sill, and cdx badge

The car has been deemed a total loss and an offer made i am wondering IF the offer is enough or not?

The car had done 123,000 needed cam belt doing and also needed one cat it ran great and was clean inside and out (valeted recently) there were no real dints or rust anywhere and was basically a sound car with good tyres all round insured fully comp for £1,500 .....
 
What would you deem a decent offer?

It sounds like you were quite happy with the car, if you are getting a decent offer, you could get a couple of doors & a front wing for little money. I am slightly concerned though, about the rear wing, B pillar etc. You could either come out of this with a better car, or wishing you had taken the money & run.  ::)

well i just did a what car used car valuation. as the OP hasnt stated engine size or year i put in my car (2.5, w reg) with his mileage....... £850 dealer, £650 private. if youre getting offer £1500 you need to take that in my opinion!!!  :y

Has he been offered 1500 pounds for it or is that what he has paid for the insurance policy??? :-/ :-/

No need to be sorry mate i was just wondering like you is that the offer or what he's paid...Cause that seems a bit steep....Mind you i dont know anything about the o.p so.....

its a 2000 2.5 cdx (as under user name) the value i put on it when insuring it was £1500 and the offer is £800 i was hoping for £750 so the offer just beats that thing is you start thinking
1, could i get more
2, could i get like for like car for £800

sorry mate but had to check..... theres plenty on here that have more than 2  :y

i would say 800 was very fair. and yes you can get a very decent car for that...

i note that elite pete is selling a cracker for £650 ono on the sales board!!!!!

Check out what the prices are for ones in the same condition of what your was before and you should see if its worth pushing for abit more or not....Saying that mate so long as they dont go back on the £800 you could try and push for a little bit more or see if they will give you the £800 plus the car back and then you could always get it sorted with the cash they have given you...Bit of a long shot maybe. ;D ;D

Note to self type quicker. ;D ;D ;D  Got to say that one that petes got up at £625 looks like a nice example for the price and petes a great guy so you know your not getting a bum deal. :y :y

Sounds like a reasonable offer to me but its always worth asking for a higher one anyway - you may be lucky and if you don't ask you won't get.   :)
