Tempermental CCR 2006 4 disc magazine
« on: 18 January 2008, 22:13:55 »

One day it won't click into place and the display reads magazine and now it won't eject. I must have pressed the eject button a hundred times this week and nothing happens. Can anyone help please?

Sounds like you may have an out of shape magazine - starting to see a few distorted ones nowadays.

I presume you are pulling the white plastic lever on the front of the cartridge whilst pressing eject? Are the eject motors whirring away?

Thanks Dave. No I haven't tried pulling the white tab yet but will later and I will put my ear against it and have a listen. Will update later.
I presume that if the magazine is distorted then I will have to replace it?
Oh and how can I tell if it is distorted?

The distorted cradles are generally as a result of inserting the magazines that have "Popped" the top edge. Some have screws along the top of the cartridge and some have clips.

As the magazines are repeatedly forced into the cradle at varying angles, it puts pressure on the plastic cartridge and it can open up. not by much, but enough to make the join along the top edge just proud enough to cause a bit of friction as they are inserted and then forcibly yanked out using that white lever. As this is done on a repeated basis, the actual metal cradle starts to distort also.

If the cartridge is ever ejected, just check along the edges to make sure everything is firmly clipped together, and if you have the type with screws, just give them a gentle nip with a small screwdriver.

If you are unfortunate enough to have the distorted cradle in the actual unit, then that can often be a nightmare to put right.

The whole thing was a very poor design to start with, and I am amazed that they have lasted so long.

I bought it from a company, not a private seller. Their feedbacks good so i'm hoping it's ok.
If all's ok i'll put the CDR2005 on here for someone to have, else it'll go for auction.

Right I got the magazine out using the white lever but I couldn't hear the motor at all.
I tried tightening the screw but they wre already tight, it doesn't seem to engage like it used to  :'(

Try a hard reset - remove power from unit for 30 mins, plug back in, enter code and see what it does - if it still fails to engage at that point, you may need to send it to me to investigate further.

Thanks Dave, I think it'l be easier to remove a battery terminal than taking the radio out as I don't possess the keys  :y
