Noise interference through speakers
« on: 30 January 2008, 15:07:13 »

Although not Omega specific, I was hoping some of the experts here can help.
I run an old Porsche 944 and am getting a whining interference noise through the in car speakers. It increases with engine speed  - anyone know of any products and procedures to suppress the interference? ::)
TIA

i would start with an alternator suppressor, the old one may have seen better days....
most autoparts shops will sell them, they just bolt on to the back of the alternator

If you have a front wing mounted aerial, its worth cleaning the aerial earth / base joint, as this was a favourite with 924 / 944 that had the aerial fitted here.

Also, if you are running the stereo with the on board amp, check that the earth to body crimp ring hasn`t corroded, as that too is quite common.
