This may be of interest...

Fascinating  :-/, I don't understand a word of it, but there are a couple of pictures which make me think it may be possible to watch TV on your CID!

...or am I just beeing a bit too hopeful?

Does anyone know more?

Whilst technically possible, probably not worth the effort.  and the is legal requirement to blank tv screen viewable by driver when moving.

Yeh, supposed to wire a link into the handbrake switch so that it is disabled automatically.
Reception would be the main issue, unless you have a decent aerial!  ::)

Would be good to watch DVD's through the inbuilt screen while the current SWMBO is shopping....  ;D

Point well made and very much appreciated, my friend has a SATNAV/TV screen on his Rover 75 and that won't work unless in neutral with the handbrake on. It would be nice to see if it were possible though for those times spent waiting.

If this ever comes of anything please consider me a potential customer. I'd like to rig it up with screens in the headrests and they would need to work whilst moving and the CID would need to work on SATNAV whilst that was happening. Only when I wanted to manually "flick a switch" would I want to feed the DVD output to the CID.

I don't want much eh?

Whist consulting the manual to the SatNav (factroy fit) in my 1998 Elite, it says "for safey reasons the SatNav can not be operated above 75mph!!!  ;D ;D

So i am fine to adjust it to at 74, but not 75mph!  :D

Technically speaking, for safety reasons, you shouldn't drive over 70  ;)

Believe that the screen only shifts to alternate source when it detects an input (part of the logic on that interface built onto the PCB has).
On the video link on that site you can see that all of the head unit menu's and the clock / source bar at the bottom disappear when the video source is turned on so the interface obviously drives the lcd panel directly.

That'd be OK though, I would expect a manual override switch, so that I could simply just break the signal, via the switch, whilst I was in motion, or didn't want to see the DVD/TV output, and if I wanted to watch the TV/DVD then I could flip the switch and expect to see that instead of the SATNAV.

Or have I missed your point here?
