Not sure about this for definite but I assume you can only use the steering wheel controls with the original head unit.  I'd love to be able to use the steering wheel controls with mine as well.

Go to Kenwood and ask if they do an adapter for their foodmixer radio

Looking at the manual for the unit, it doesn't seem to have any external connectors for the steering controls/dashboard display, which means you may not be able to use the steering controls.
My kenwood (KDC-9537U) has an extra plug (in addition to the standard ISO) specifically for this purpose.

We can supply steering convertors for most makes of stereo, but only if the stereo is capable of running them.

I don`t have a specific database of what will and won`t work, as the information is either in your handbook for the radio, or on the manufacturers website.

If you find that your radio is compatable with sterring controls, then give me a yell, and I`ll find an adaptor for you.

Alpine / Clarion / Blaupunkt / Kenwood / Sony / Pioneer / Panasonic / JVC to Vauxhall adaptors generally kept in stock @ £34.99 inclusive of P&P

Hi I changed my CCR600 for a Kenwood KDC-W5534U with a 6 stack autochanger, had to swap yellow and red wires over, and cut and tape electric ariel wire(it took the date away from the display) also found  remote control pack in Halfords £4.99 had to run extra wire from panel lights to multiplug under ignition cowling all very easy BEWARE the airbag light wiring is in the centre console, my light came on for no reason!..... Good luck and dont be afraid it's easy even I managed it.....2tone  :y
