CCR 2006 Problem!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 21 March 2008, 20:58:40 »

Hi all. I have just bought a 1999 CDX estate. The only problem I have is that I am unable to play cds. I have loaded the magazine correctly and put  it in but nothing happens. The radio works fine. Any suggestions please.

Sounds like unit has failed, and needs servicing.  The changer portion of this set do seem delicate.

I know a few people on here are more familar with the cd changer portion than me, hopefully they can cast some light on what goes wrong. Likely to be mechanical within the changer mechanism I would suspect.

Fairly common problem, but as Phiips and spares are no longer, not something we can repair I`m afraid.

Could the switch at the back of the inside cd changer unit be knackered?

Might be worth stripping down and running on a bench if you are ok with electronic type of repairs?  I certainly would if i had the problem.

Cheers

Mr DND, did you say the magazine/changer internals can be swapped from a stand-alone CDC2??? (or something like that!?!)

Andy. the changer is not recognising the magazine, the exact same message is shown on the screen if the magazine is not inserted and you try to operate. Maybe that will lead you nearer to the problem if you fancy taking it apart???

CDC3 (4 disk one) is more likely I'd guess...

NOT THE CDC2 !!!!!

If you can get your hands on a CDC3, its a very easy repair / swap

From your new in dash single Din CDC3, take off the plastic fascia assembly, remove the lid and take out the vertical PCB on the right hand side.

Replace the vertical PCB with the one from your old unit, as this contains the programming for use with the CCR2006 put the lid on from the old unit.

once board swapped, replace the entire unit, chassis and all and plug back in.

Should take you around half an hour and not really rocket science to do.

Surprised the Sony sounds OK through Bose - the levels are all wrong.

To clarify for those who may be interested, are you selling a ccrt700 or a ccr800 - there is no such thing as a crt800 ;)
