Standard double din removal tools - just like normal ones, but bigger! Halfrauds flog 'em.  Or 4 nails if you know how.

You will obviously need to reenter radio code when refitting...

NOT THE CDC2 !!!!!

If you can get your hands on a CDC3, its a very easy repair / swap

From your new in dash single Din CDC3, take off the plastic fascia assembly, remove the lid and take out the vertical PCB on the right hand side.

Replace the vertical PCB with the one from your old unit, as this contains the programming for use with the CCR2006 put the lid on from the old unit.

once board swapped, replace the entire unit, chassis and all and plug back in.

Should take you around half an hour and not really rocket science to do.

Andy, use the 'double din radio removal keys' as mentioned and extract accordingly. Some here...

You could also sneak your fingers into the cassette deck for a little extra leverage to pull out. Careful though...you may be walking around after with cassette shaped fingers!  ;D

Phill, your ccr 800 is a completely different shape and fitment to andy's 2006 in his facelift car, so don't really see the advantage  :-?

Pins arrived today so I had the unit out o have a look. Nothing jumped out at me and all seemed intact apat from the facia which has been broken pevious to me. That made me think that someone else has had a go. So I decided to put it back in. One doing so the unit sprang into life even without the code (?) scanned and saved radio stations and the cd now works!!!!!!!!!!!.So I`m waiting to see how long it lasts before it packs up again but so far so good. Thanks alot to all who have posted ideas etc.

Aye, that sounds like a vauxhall!!!

....the 2006's are notoriously fragile though so the cash forked out for them removal keys may not be entirely wasted! Just be careful when inserting the cartridge and make doubly sure that all the CD's are inserted in the cartridge correctly  :y
