New bulb for sunroof controls
« on: 24 April 2008, 16:44:58 »

Looking at a few small jobs that i need to do one of which is to replace the buld in the sunroof control. How easy is this to do and has any one done this before. Would be nice to have it working again.

Thanks

Steve.

From memory on previous threads ... it is do-able but slightly tricky as on some the bulbs are soldered in .. looking at the EPC I would guess they ALL are ... bulb has 2 long trailing wires and no cap .. :(.. although it could be a push-fit like christmas tree lights I suppose ...

i decided to replace mine with a resistor and diode (or just use a 12v diode) so that i wouldnt ever have to do it again.

Bulb is just a push fit on mine. The wires slide into the contact housing.

I've got some 4.7mm 12V 100mA 1.2W Wire Ended lamps that fit (with just a little bit of fiddling) as a replacement for the sunroof control backlight. It is quite a fiddly job though because the two legs of the bulb are quite flimsy. Certainly works now in mine. So if any one's interested let me know and I can pop a couple in a jiffy bag.
