« on: 16 May 2008, 23:39:31 »

Hi i have a problem upgrading my omega elite sound system. It has BOSE sound system and I have removed original CD player. Then I conect new one there is no sound at all. The new unit works but no sound. Anyone knows what might be the problem ??? I heard that there is a bose amp somewhere but how to connect new stereo to it >>>???

Appears that you havn't connected all the leads correctly.  Are all the wires (colours) lining up between the old and new connectors?  They may well be different and therefore you will need a convertor block  :y

Have you replaced it with an identical unit? Will need to have the line levels set to match the Bose amp using Tech II

What model head unit was removed? It may give a better insight to the problem

it was philips ccr 2006 cd player. the new unit is alpine but it has the same ISO back socked I bought at Halfords. and there is no sound at all but new unit works fine, i can swich it on and adjust everything just there is no sound. I have cheched the new unit on the other car and it works fine. I think that bose has amp but how can I know now where it is and which cables go to it. its a bit stupid.

Bose amp is under rear parcel shelf unless it's an estate in which case it's infront of the rear wheelarch.

Doubtful you will get the Alpine to work with the Bose, better to reinstall the CCR2006 and return the Alpine back to Hellfrauds.

Chances are the reason for the no sound is that the amp remote on cable has not been connected (presuming only using the standard ISO connectors) and that would account for the loss of sound.

However, the previous suggestions are also correct - the Alpine is NOT compatable with the BOSE system anyway

Decison time !!

Back to halfords and get rid of the Alpine, or the preferred and very expensive option of ripping out the entire BOSE system, remembering also that the BOSE speakers fitted are 2 Ohm and will blow the Alpine to bits if connected up !!

Its fairly straightforward to bypass bose amp.  I think the 2ohm may still be an issue though.

bose is good enough and i wouldnt bypass it you will end up butchering the stereo loom the 2 ohm issue as dave dnd said will blow the alpine to bits

the bose setup is far better than a alpine unit and the sound quality is second to none

i have removed my cr800, and replaced it with a sony bt 5000 which is bluetooth , and connects to my my mobile.
i have kept the bose system in place, my local ice man fitted this for me, (he is a good friend ) .
there is a special block you can get from autoleads, that alows the new unit to work with  the bose  system.
also had stalk adaptor fitted, allowing steering wheel controls to work.
the system sounds really good, with no problems, if you want my mates number , pm  me,
