Stereo system gone unexplainably faulty.....
« on: 02 May 2008, 21:26:35 »

2001 Elite bose NCDC 2013 with sat nav, I go to the pub last night, leave the sound system off while i have chatty passengers, on the screen is the screen saver if you will, date time and the bose logo, all's well! i get in the car to come home, leaving stereo off, drop passengers off on way then go to turn on stereo but notice the screen is completely turned off :-/ So when i actually turn the unit on, it just comes on to the radio, and i can adjust the volume, also i can adjust the volume using the steering wheel controls but i cant do anything else AT ALL with it, cant change station, cant change to CD, cant use sat nav and cant view computer stuff like trip distance and MPG stuff. Also i cant eject the sat nav disc and changer cartridge

any ideas at all? would love it to be just a blown fuse...

Pull the radio fuse and re-insert it.

No code required on the satnav setups asthey are coded to the display

It sounds like the radio is in safe mode so it could also be a bad connection on the display or radio.

I had exactly this same problem about 6 weeks ago (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1205963182). In my case it was not a fuse but a faulty traffic master system or it wiring  / link lead. A trip to The Boy and his tech2 showed no connection to the rest of the car and as such no display to the screen etc. I have also heard of this happening due to the connection at the back of the radio / cage and a removal / reinsertion of the radio can sometimes solve it, no code is needed if the radio is removed on the 2013. I am still traumatised by having to listen to radio oxford for 3 weeks and can fully appreciate your frustration!!

AIRC there may be two fuses on the back of the radio itself.

However this is not much use to you until you acertain the radio code because removing the radio will invariably (unless you're a jammy b and the code is disabled) invoke the safe mechanism

Also, turn the unit off, then hold down the clear button and turn the unit back on, this might reset it to factory defaults (does on the CCRT700)

being a sat nav unit, it doesnt need a code, refer to previous posts

Don't know whether this will help or not, but I have a 2001 Elite with bose NCDC 2013 and sat nav along with a color information display (CID). The CID is currently disconnected and removed for repair. With the screen disconnected I have exactly the symptoms that you have described, ie cant change station, no CD etc etc
This would lead me to surmise that your problem is a disconnexion either at the radio or screen end (grey plug on rear of screen not seated?) rather than a blown fuse.
