What model stereo / changer are you playing with?

The changer (whatever the version) is not compatable with CDR/RW discs and the varying thicknesses of them may cause the unit to jam and show NO DISC.

If you only bought the car yesterday, have you asked the previous owner how he got around the problem?

Hi Dave. I have an SC804 head unit which works fine. Its the CD changer thats bugging me. Its got power, ejects fine and recognizes that discs are loaded. However, it doesnt seem to want to play any of the discs. Please help/advise. Thanks.

I agree, if you are using genuine, clean and non scratched discs then the laser has probably gone.

Give me a yell if you want it repaired.

Thanks for the quick reply Dave but I am in the Philippines hence I guess repair is out of the question. Any suggestions? Replace? Do you have one? Appreciate the response again mate. Cheers.

Hi Dave. The changer finally played music!! but it only plays original discs and not computer burned ones.  But I hear scratching sounds coming from the speakers while playing.  I don't hear these sounds when playing the radio.  Could it be the speakers? Wiring? or the changer needs general cleaning.  Appreciate your comment and advise mate. Cheers. :) :) :)

Hi Please forgive me if this sounds a bit stupid but I had a similar problem with discs burnt from a pc and all it was in the end was that I had burnt them as mp3 when I should have converted them to audio files before burning after realising the error I have never had a problem with playing cdr's in the car. :-?

Nope, Dave is about to tell you that if you are now hearing the scratching noises, then its far too late, the laser has now been damaged by use of the CDR/RW discs.

Check through previous posts, the reasons are already well documented.
