Hi,
Kinda new so please excuse my ramblings, I have a 2001 3.2 elite estate, it has the factory fit reversing sensors which have recently developed a fault (high pitched beep as normal then constant low pitched one), I have looked through the various posts regarding this topic and now set to go diagnosing with a multi-meter and start swapping bits, however not sure where to locate the control box on the estate model.
Please can someone confirm where the reversing sensor control unit is located?

I have a similar problem: inconsistent, but occasionally it does this. I'll be watching to find out more.

Ok any news i'll keep posted on here, the low pitch continuous tone is mentioned is the owners hand book, andd is there to indicate a fault. The car has gone back to the main dealer to be tested on their computer but they could not clear the fault, and simply offered to fit a complete new kit for £299 (no thanks).

OK managed to fix mine, the control unit is accessed through the panel in NS rear lights, you can see the heads of the 2 phillips screw securing the unit. I tested that it was getting power and the signal from the reversing lights (white/black), and all was good. I removed the 2 plugs and sprayed in some contact cleaner, reassembled and is now working fine. As the plugs are not a sealed type I would suspect that dirty contacts would be a common fault so worth trying this first.

Thanks Greg, excellent news and info. I'll try this today. I'll have to find the relevant bit on my car (I have a saloon so I couldn't find it just now).

Does anyone know where this part is on a saloon?

BTW: What's that looped up bit of what feels like thin black rope that is zip tied up there for?

It seems to dissapear up inside the rear roof lining and has a foam covered electrical connector on it.
