can anyone tell me what to do with this factory fitted standard satnav/stereo system thats causing me all sorts of problems. first thing is when i put the navigation disc in after a few seconds it ejects itself or would just say insert disc. so i cannot use the navigation. also when i play a cd music disc almost everytime the 1st and 2nd track plays then stops then plays,(very annoying). can anyone put me out of my misery? :(

The nav optical pickups are still available and not to bad a job to fit.

The main optical pickup sounds like more of a tracking error (your thoughts Dave?) and might be as simple as a clean and lube of the worm drive and a good clean of the pickup.

Also, are you using recordable media?

yes, parts available, and whether laser worn out with CDR/RW or age or tracking coils gone, its still looking like an optical replacement either way.

We just don`t have the technical info to calibrate the new optical device once fitted - its not simply a plug and play on those, they need to be set up correctly or they will not focus correctly and probably burn out within a few months instead of years
