strange one tonight
« on: 29 January 2009, 02:42:02 »

oh owning a omega for me i think was a wrong move lol

got in car tonight, drove down the road and me battery light lit up bright

then light went out and all me gauges stopped working, as i was driving along they were flicking up and down

pilled car over and turned off

opened bonnet and couldnt see anything wrong to the eye

got back in car started it and all was fine until 10 miles down the road and everything started to die but with no battery light on?

ended up having aa out who first of all sent a wally from a unknown garage who sed battery was faulty and he got it started and it would get me home (18 miles) he left so i got in car and it just died on me and everything went off

adter a strong phone call back with some unpleasent words they sent a proper aa man (how lucky was i to actually get one lol) he tested everything and sed no its the alternator but xouldnt understand why battery light wasnt on

any ideas peeps???

Well if you need an alternator then I have a pretty much brand new one here for a 2.0...but best to make sure its right...I believe the AA/RAC people arent always right!!!  :-X

But could well be right in this case someone with more knowledge of this area will know...

Check this out. Sounds like it could be the alternator regulator. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1225724099

The guages dying as if the ignition had been turned off sounds like the issue I have with my 2.5td.
