Radio display???
« on: 04 February 2009, 20:34:06 »

Hi all, had a quick shufty through previous threads on here but no joy as yet so here goes, i recently popped a Kenwood head unit in my 2.5td Mig along with a 10 disc changer in the boot. Everything works fine and dandy but is there any way i can link things up so the didgi display shows more than just the clock/temp, and i can start using the steering wheel buttons???

There are aftermarket interfaces available to do this, but you need to make sure that your Kenwood is steering control capable and also has the "Display Out" feature, otherwise it will not drive the necessary interface.

If your Kenwood IS compatable, then the interface is around £35

If you want to retain steering wheel control functionality your Kenwood will need the facility,  and you'll need one of these:

http://ice.dndservices.co.uk/shop_show_item.php/IID/344

You'll also need a patch lead to match the Kenwood you are fitting,
PC99-KEN, The above link to Dave dnd's webpage explains it all.

Worth shopping around, prices do vary.

Not sure about display though!!

When I fitted my JVC, lost HU interface with MID, no biggy for me, and date was present with HU power off, disappears wth HU power on, although I believe this can be reprogrammed to remain constant. :y
