ccr 600 cdc2 omega cd 2.5 v6 1999
« on: 02 February 2009, 10:48:34 »

Hi All, Hoping you can help me.....

I've swapped out old car400 and put in ccr660 HU - all ok, tho a bit tight with cables behind it! all working ok display / controls etc
Now for the changer...

Where should it go ?
Where is the connector ? Has this model got one ? Do i need to make my own ? Where can i get the connector from if so ?

Looked in the boot in first aid compartment - cant see a loom and connector, tho the mounting points for the cage is there.

Also under glove box, there was an old phone kit, connected into a loom, which must goto the HU as it worked through in car audio.  Can this be adapted if req ?

Got pin outs from ccr 600, got pin outs for cdc2, maybe all i need to do is make a few splices ?

Any advice would be appreciated as its getting bloody annoying!!!

Thanks in advance

chris

You need a CD Changer loom that runs from drivers kick panel to where you are mounting CD.

Any of the breakers can supply, as could anyone who has upgraded to Bose.

It runs from a large connector bolted over alarm ecu in kick panel to back of car, and incorporates aerial lead (and cellular if fitted)

Don`t forget to make sure that the CDC2 is the correct version for the head unit, as not all models of CDC2 are cross compatable with all head units.

You need to be a bit careful here, it all depends on which model you have, whether you hav the cable in place!!
I made precisely this mistake.. I have a 2.5TD estate, 1996 and it is the GLS model. Was told exactly what you are being told. Bought a CCR600/CDC2 setup, and when I got to fit the CDC2... no cable in the rear end. Was told I needed the cable from the Drivers footwell to the rear end, plug 'n' play, they said.
BUT. having splashed out on a s/h cable from a breaker £20!!, (they are £40+ new FFS!) found that the required connector in the drivers footwell didn't exist in the GLS model!!
Ended up buying an'aftermarket' cable which goes between the HU and its loom, and through to the rear right hand boot pocket.
Apparently the 'poorer' models had no loom, but the 'top end' models have it all there ready to hook up.

Be interesting to know which model you have. Also, take off the drivers footwell panel, (where bonnet release is) and see if there is a large unused multiway connector mounted on top of a black ECU box.
If there is, then wiring is in place. (I have a loom that you can have (see above!!) If not, then its down the same route as I had to go.
Actually, quite a reasonably easy one..

Just hope this helps!! especially if it saves you buying the wrong loom!!!    :y :y

thanks for info. had panel off only got ecu (alarm etc i think) in there. no sign of connector. can see aerial lead, also found traffic master box and a hell of a loom going backwards.  unless the connector is pushed further up in side i haven't got one.  Looks like i'm stuck without.  Tho one good thing did come out of it, a plug was off the now visable ecu and now the central locking seems to work after reseting fob!

If you can advise where to get the after market loom, i'll give this a try direct onto head unit.

Kind regards,

Chris

this is on a t plate (99) CD model saloon 2.5 v6.

Just really need to get it cd ready as hacked off already with just radio. Also would be nice to keep the display and sterring wheel controls so a replacement HU would not do!

Hi, the one I eventually used was sourced from the local s/h dealer, and I had to wait for a while for it too... as well as removing it!! (so I know how easy!!it is to install/remove  ;D )
As for the item 'new', tried two 'local' car radio emporiums  ::)  and was quoted from £40 upwards, but they were buying from a supplier, (have no idea who) to sell to me.
Might be worth a look on 'fleabay' under 'cables & leads' to get a list of radio suppliers, and then check out their shops, or ask if they can supply a lead.
When you get one, they are easy to fit, just a bit of a tight squeeze behind the HU, but less than 45 mins from start to finish

Hope this helps  :y

I would imagine that they would be supplying direct from Vx, as the lead is not available as an aftermarket/pattern/sales item from anyone else due to it being a Vx original part.

May be worth comparing prices between vehicles though, Omega, Astra, Vectra etc, as not uncommon to throw up some cheaper prices somewhere

As I posted earlier, look through for sale section for people breaking cars, see if they have one.  The non bose ones are pretty worthless and common...

Don't like to argue Dave, but my first port of call was the local 'stealer' Sewards.
They insisted there was NO cable, 'because all the vehicles have it installed' lol!!
They don't.... As has been proved timt and time again.
But Sewards 'stealers'!!no less continued to deny the cables existence. The parts guy even got the service manager, and a 'technician' to back him up. I then asked them to come out to my omega, and show me this cable.
All three were unable to find the connector in the boot cubby (I have an estate) and refused to remove the drivers footwell cover, unless I paid for their time, saying' the car was equiped with the cable, and it must have been removed by a previous owner, as ALL omegas were supplied with the cable as part of the wiring loom' which is a load of Bull**it!! as we all know....So much for the mighty Vauxhall dealer...

Local ICE dealer found the cable straight away in one of his catalogues, but frightned me off with his £50+ tag :o AND wanted to fit it as well (£50+) else wouldn't supply it.  :o

Politely told him where to go. ;D
Finally got a cable from a breaker (on Fleabay) for £12 + £7.50 P&P
