hi , got a problemmo , got the ashtray removed all screws out the bottom of console but tis still held by forces unknow are there scews at the top ? please help !!!

You need to get the radio and cage out, then scrape your knuckles and curse as you try to pull on the release bar...

I found it easiest to grab the release bar at either end with thumb and first finger to pull it down, perhaps that's just my skinny large hands though!

yeah found it at last , what an ar5e of a job !!!!no room at all even a mk1 astra had more room behind the dash lol

A quick tip before reassemble... put a couple of cable ties (one at each end) on the bar, make them tight and leave the excess dangling. Makes it easier next time

Good idea, I cut a notch in an old screwdriver for next time, works a treat.

You can just lever the bar down one end at a time with a screwdriver...once you have managed to locate the stupid thing!
