What´s the best diagnostic tool ?

So i´ve been looking for a tool that i could play with..
What kind of experiences do you have with cheaper ones??

It might work, but if I were you I'd stick with the paper clip test.

Yeah, paperclip is the cheapest way  for fault code reading, but i´d like to check aircon and headlight´s too...

Real Tech2, but they are about £3.5k ;D

You may have some mileage with cheapo Tech2 IF you have a real com port on your lappy.  Doesn't (usually) work on usb adpaters

A few of my friends has this tool/program Opel-Scanner http://www.techgsm.com/Opel_Scanner,7451.html and it works nicely.

I have one just same messed about with it, it does work but is very temperamental  & the software supplied sucks! so IMHO i wouldnt waste my dosh  :y

rac do a tester about 80 pounds dont no if it works on  the omega

If you want to do engine diagnostics and EML resetting then the maxscan GS500 is pretty good IMHO  - OBDII only though

Avoid the cheap versions off eblay ...  seem to be chinese rejects .. had to send mine back and buy a "proper" one .. :0

No complaints about mine - it reads every ECU on the Omega and virtually all GM's since ALDL and provides some basic functionality tests as well as live data.

Does the GS 500 detect abs faults etc, ie not just engine?

GS500 is engine and VERY limited transmission only , but does do live data and reset EML

What about this one. I know some one that has one & it does air flow meters/abs etc everything really as well as engine/box.
     Any ideas please?

My friend came by today.  :)
So we changed the MID from German to English lang.
And Japanes settings for the fuelconsumption. km/l instead of l/100km.
