NCDC 2015 CD-Changer problem
« on: 03 January 2009, 14:55:24 »

I have ncdc 2015 and my cd changer stopped working. It recognizes discs but as it tries to read them you can hear how laser lens is trying to focus cd and display says " ERROR CDx"
Connected "My Naff Code Reader" and cd-changer was having CD Focus error fault problem. :(

Took the radio inside...cleaned cd-ch lens with compressed air and cotton stick. Nothing. :(
Took it apart on the table, connected the power and looked it while operating...laser beam was there...and lesns focusing was woking too.
Adjusted the laser lens intensity....didn't work. So I quess the laser diode is faded out or smth. :-? Any other ideas?

Does it needs to focus first and then will start spinning cd because it will not spinn cd, only moves a little bit while focusing?

I noticed that cd-ch uses KSS-601a laser lens. Is there any place where I could purchase this lens online?

Happy new year! :)

Sounds like the NCDC has been playing CDR's???

if it has the laser fitted to these units doesnt like CDR's very much and it wears it out

speak to a forum member called DaveDND he is our audio Guru and he offers a repair service

Unfortunatley, by using non-compatable CDR`s, the laser has strained itself so hard to read the smaller data recorded, that it has worn itself out.

If you can get a new laser and have the ability to recalibrate it once fitted, then thats what you need to do, but not something I can assist with on that model I`m afraid.

Yeah, knackered laser.  I believe new pick-ups are available from 1 or 2 places on this unit.

what marking is the ncdc2015 sat-nav laser? in case i need it later. ;)

also it seems that kss-601a is almost impossible to find,
i noticed that kss-602a looks almost exactly as kss-601a only difference i see is that ribbon cable connection end has different angle or something.
