Bought my 1999 Tourer Miggy 31.1.09  It's got original Vauxhall Tow bar, but the original Vauxhall electric sockets were smashed and u/s.
Bought after market replacement sockets but wire colour codes don't seem to match.

Wires on car are two colours, socket suggests that they should be only one.   Any ideas, or have I got to do bulb test to see what is what.

I know you guys are experts.

OE 12N socket uses he same colours as the circuit it's fed from on the car's loom. Aftermarket uses these

editOE colours:-
earth - brown
brake - black/yellow
left tail - grey/black
right tail - grey/red
right turn - blck/green
left turn - black/white
fog - black/blue
NB your rear fogs should be wired via another micro switch in the side of your OE socket. When you plug your 12N plug in, it should turn off your car's fogs, so you don't get blinded by the glare. Your aftermarket socket is unlikely to have this microswitch.
andyc is the man to ask if it's posible to buy an OE 12N socket.
