Check warning signal
« on: 31 March 2009, 19:51:36 »

Strange thing today...after advise from recent MOT  advisory decided to replace both rear indicator bulbs as coloured orange paint was flacking off showing a white light.
Bought 2 "offset pin 581 cloured bulbs" from local motor factor. All fitted and checked that all worked ..fine.
Tonight pulled off driveway and switched on side lights and to my amazement"check warning headlight/tail light" came on.Stopped and checked all headlights and rear and side lights and all are working fine.
Now have read and experienced cheap side light and rear light bulbs causing issues, but is this also related to indicator bulbs,as expect they were not branded type as only cost £1=20 each...so is it a trip to VX for some dearer ones?

I bet one of the 4 tail bulbs has failed due to your moving them around.

Indicators not covered by check control.

Thanks TB....will go out with mirror and have a look at brake lights as rear lights are working fine,so maybe one has given up.

If its head/tail light on MID, its one of the dipped beam, or one of the 4 (2 per side) tail lights.

Just checked...all 3 brake lights are working/low beam and side lights are fine/rear lights are also all good...so the only thing I have changed is both rear indicator bulbs and now the MID is showing "headlight/tail light warning"...check..??

As The Boy says, indictors aren't on the check control. Duff indicators are noted by quicker flash rate.  :y

Now I am confussed....on light cluster in body is 3 bulbs..indicator(which has been replaced)..rearlight with twin filament.tail/stop...rear foglight..so if they are all working .what has caused the check to come on ,as have only removed indicator bulbs and replaced them with probably infereor quality bulbs to VX brand.Nothing else was touched.

No no no...

In that cluster, there is 1 indicator, 1 tail/stop twin filament, and 1 sperate tail ;) - hence me keep banging on about 4 tail lights!!!

Fog and reverse in bootlid.
