it may be stuck on the runners
try getting a bit of oil or something on the runners and try and help it down

No no no no no. NO!

If runners need lube, use a dry lube, such as the ptfe type spray for nylon curtain rails.

Is this a common fault ? is it worth using a PTFE or silicon spray as a preventative measure ?

My rear blind is stuck up too :-( From reading around these forums, it tends to be one of three things. It's either just jammed and giving it a helping 'push' my get it to go down. Or, the gears inside the motor have jammed. Or, the circuit board that has the relays on it that is attached to the motor has failed circuit paths.

Like me, you are probably going to have to have the rear seats out and remove it all to find the fault. Follow the excellent guide on here.
