CID Questions
« on: 09 May 2009, 23:02:20 »

If your CID starts to go a bit funny, i.e. it still works but the screen is blank/white at startup and then scrambles when you push buttons on the stereo, what's the most common issue?

In turn, having done some reading, does this mean a whole new CID, or just an LCD screen?

Finally, are the LCDs and CIDs as a whole still available to buy though a Vx stealer, if you have body parts to spare?

Strange coloured lines, or a pure white screen is a fubar LCD panel.

LCD panels available for a price, or a place repairs them on egay.

I'm waiting for mine to fail again so I can get some pics, unless you can post one up?

Well if that means it's just the LCD that's better than needing a whole new CID.

Can they be sourced from Vx still?

Looking at other topics there's either eBay or BBA-reman in the UK has been mentioned.  Would need to get the CID out of the dash tho...

Vx won't supply LCD panel only, they will only sell you entire CID.

Hmmm, guess Vx still have some of them kicking around as entire units, although I assume the actual Sharp LCDs would be getting scarce...

Ouch, even though upgrading the screen at purchase time was only £400.  Sounds like replacing/repairing the LCD is the way forward!
