headlight issue with washers?
« on: 25 May 2009, 10:05:35 »

I noticed something yesterday and still not sure is it a problem but it does look like it is.
Was driving in sunset and the glass was dirty so sprayed some water from washers and the lights dimmed for a second and continued to work normally. Tried it again and same thing happened. Is this normall or I have a short cuircit somewhere?
Lights are xenon and have washers so I'm not sure is it some sort of precautionary measure, but I don't think so. Of course it's better to ask

It sounds like a loose or dirty earth connection. I might be wrong but no doubt the gang will correct it if it is.

When you wash your windscreen and you have your headlights on, the headlight washers come on for about a second and then go off, even if you still have the screenwash stalk pulled.  You think your lights are dimming, but it's just the spray from the headlight washers getting in the way for a second.

Agree  with Richard .. the "dimming" you think you are seeing is simply the reduced light caused by the high pressure water jets obscuring/scattering the light rays. It is more obvious on Miggy's than many other cars simply due to the high pressure/high volume of water the washers produce.

Well I never thought that this could be the issue with pressure.
I'll have someone spray the windshield and headlights while I'll watch the headlights.
Thanks guys for the advice this really never came to mind that it could be the cause.
