I had a CID that went 'streaky'. The fault was traced to a dry joint on the ribbon cable connector on the screen PCB. This PCB linked the screen to the other 2 PCBs. The joint was approx 0.5mm wide and a good friend of mine managed to re-flow the joint and cure the fault; eventually

The screen is replacable. The original part number is a Sharp LQ5AW126 which I believe has been superceded by a Sharp LQ5AW136 (this needs careful checking though).

As the screen is a distinct separate part within the CID, I believe it (the screen) could be replaced without affected the pairing issue, since the data and pairing code for the CID is held on boards 2 and 3 (taking the screen PCB as board 1) and these are not part of the screen (not CID) assembly.

New Sharp screen is approx £150 - £200

HTH and good luck

This is from another thread which is on the same issue

136 panels around £120-£150 delivered (inc import duty). Pretty easy to change, only soldering is the 3 metal prongs

Thanks for the info TB, can I ask you few questions please.

Those 3 metal prongs that require soldering are these, the ones that connect to the buttons on the outside of the dash above the display or is it something else?
I was wondering how these metal prongs cleared the casing as the plastic clip on them seems like it’s a permanent fit.
Do these have to be unsoldered first to remove the unit from its casing then soldered back on when LCD is replaced?
I would be grateful for some information here as you say, sounds like it’s pretty easy to change.

Also could you please give me some details on how to get hold of a screen?

If you want to replace the LCD panel yourself here below are two more links that have information on Omega Displays and where you may be able to source an LCD panel from plus some further general info that may help.

The first is a link to this forum and it is a tale of woe from a member and his dealing with Vauxhall over the same fault as yours and mine. He too managed to solve the problem by replacing the Sharp LCD panel with a Sharp LQ5AW136 (as the LQ5AW126 is obsolete). He sourced his from Germany but there are UK suppliers.

The second link is to Sharp and gives details of suppliers in the UK section where panels can be obtained from.

http://www.sharpsme.com/Page.aspx/europe/en/584a4758-fe34-4f95-a54d-e3b92ca554fa/

The last information is from the Vauxhall owners network and gives details of where this member got his panels from. You will note from the price he had to pay that there is only approx £30-40 difference between a DIY job and BBA-Reman (unless prices have altered substantially). You might wish to note that you may have difficulty in getting someone to supply you, as from experience they can sometimes be very touchy about supplying items like this to non trade/non manufacturers

"The LCD in my NCDC 2013 was a Sharp LQ5AW126 and I found it impossible to source, but I discovered that an Sharp LQ5AW136 was an equivalent. I got hold of the data sheets for both and compared them and they appeared identical so I bought one in the Uk, fitted it, and it has worked absolutely fine for 3 years now.
The cheapest LQ5AW136 I came across in England was £145 before tax and delivery - Eurodis Electronics (+44) 8707 568199
I purchased mine at £165 from Hero Electronics (+44) 1525 405015 - the guy was very helpful and offered a full refund if it didn't do the job! so I paid up for the extra service. You do see them occasionaly on Ebay"

Hope all of this helps you.

Oh well done wingman thanks for the info.

I still have BBA  Reman in mined to do the job, however on reading TBs post it seems like it could be a strait forward job.
When I had the unit on the table the other day it was only these 3 metal prongs that stopped unit from coming out of its housing.
The opposite side to the prongs will freely move, when lifted the L C D then freely moves. So the screen itself is only trapped in place by the circuit boards.
Any way will take a look at those links you send me and thanks again.

Its easy enough, and the 136 panel fits fine.  The CID Hotel21 is currently using is a 136

Hi I am having a bit of a problem trying to get hold of the LCD panel.
Looked on sharps web sight and the LQ5AW136R has been discontinued.
They give an alternative as the LQ050Q5DR01 but checking the spec the pixels numbers, input, and size are not the same.
Up to now I have tried the following companies for stock but no joy:
Anglia, Arrow Electronics, Silica. Any body got any ideas please.

The company that repairs CIDs on egay will sell you a screen. There is another seller stateside, but with poor £-$ currently, but time you've paid import duty, not that great.
