Rear Window Shade Stuck
« on: 06 July 2009, 15:17:27 »

hey all, my rear window shade is stuck and wont release. When the switch is pressed, you can hear it clicking, but no release? Any info would be appreciated.

when someone presses button, gently help it up by hand. Then lube the runners with a dry lubricant, such as PTFE spray used for nylon curtain rails

When The Boy says gently, I would read that as VERY gently. I had the same problem. After unsuccessfully doing this, I resorted to removing the screen assembly completly. Found that one of the two arms that sit under the shelf had become bent (not the supports that raised the blind). They are made of a soft alloy. I bought a used unit and used it as a donor for the arms and mechanism etc.  ;)

My girlfriend tried lifting mine on the Elite & now it will only go up a little way before it starts making grinding noises. It won't go down either!

I'm resorting to getting another now...
