Heated seat elements ........
« on: 28 July 2009, 18:40:21 »

Is it usual for the rear or base elements of the heated front seats to go?

I've got a pair of non-working heated front seats in one car, and only one in my donor car. Both are S reg.

Does anyone know if the heating elements in the rear seats are the same as the fronts? Its just that as I've got a heated rear seat  - I see that as possible source of parts for the repair.

Does anyone know if the heating pads are expensive from a dealer?

Thanks ........ Rob

Pretty common fault I'm afraid. The base & lower back are wired in series with each other so that's why you lose heat in both when one fails. If you've got leather the mats are integral to the leathr cover so cost an arm & a leg if you go to Vauxhall as they'll want to sell you the lot!  :-?  It's possible I believeto fit seperate mats form fabric seats under the leather cover. There's a how-to-do in the maintenance section .... somewhere  ::) and be carefull when you remove the seats re the air bag if fitted, & they're bloody heavy.  ;)  ;)  ;)

Mine works, but that's on a 02 facelift.  When I bought it I did check to make sure that they worked in the front, despite it being a really sunny and hot day!

All 4 work fine in my 11yr old MV6, though sports leather seats do seem to be more reliable, heater wise.

Don't have the part numbers, though I guess there are different as their electric characteristics are different

Only got front ones, but they work fine. I wouldn't mind retro-fitting them in the back if it's a fairly easy job.
