i have the Alpine KWE-871E

After contacting Alpine UK it appears I also need a KCE-870B - Main Interface which is £47 !  

It seams the spare white connector on the 817E goes to this box, then the box connects to the H/U.

This is what i have at the moment, but i think i need the £47 adaptor  :-/

That's right.

I remember that number, that's the same number as the interface i had.

Like i said in a previous post, you might have to wait a while for them to get it though.

They're obviously more popular now than when i had to get mine, which was a good few years back.

I had to wait an eternity, had a vision of a wee Japanese bloke bringing it over here in a rickshaw.

Looking on the Alpine europe site (steering wheel adapters) it shows you what you need to work the display and steering wheel controls. It seems the KEC-870B will not work the display, but the KEC-970B will.

Don't know if it's been mentioned.

There's very little room behind the headunit for adaptors.  

I fitted an ISO extender in mine, but it would be difficult if it was any bigger.

Tunnie, could you tell me whether you managed to fit both the headunit adaptor and the steering wheel control adaptor in successfully. From what I can tell I need both and I've read that space is limited.

For instance if I was to have a Sony HU and wanted to use the steering controls and use the computer display I would need both of these I believe?

If you get a Sony head unit you dont need both leads just a soundlinks VAU01(or 02)DIS, also marked up as Connects 2 DOPS002 or 003 or 004 depending on the car

One box does display and steering wheel but is very tight to fit in, i know as ive done it but i did cut and extend the cables and fitted the box behind the glove box

5 has the 3 row extra connector 4 has 2 row.

002 replaced by 4 003 replaced by 5 001 was replaced by 2

Oh and I cut mine and soldered to the radio adaptor lead - rather than extend either solution works

My prefacelift has the connects lead for the facelift, its all to do with which head unit and display.

If its the integrated phone 700 head unit then the third connector is the same as the double din unit found in the facelift.

I know this after spending £86 on a lead that doesnt fit!!

003 was for newer models than the 002 - both had issues with MP3 players.

Bit more info after getting hold of the Soundlix Tech people they have confirmed that the display adaptors DONOT work with the following head units:- CCRT700, NCDR1100 and NCDR1500.

The steering wheel controls work fine but it isnt compatable with the GID, hence why im having trouble with mine!!

Soundlinx and Connects2 is the same box just diff label on the front, the VAU01DIS is for the CAR200/300/400/CDR500 and is the same as the DOPS004

The VAU02DIS is for the CAR2003/2004/CCR2006/CDR2005

Funily enough 5 mins after my e-mail the soundlinx website was updated and the ref to the CCRT700 was removed, not a lot of cop as ive p1ssed £150 up the wall!!!

I bought mine on Ebay (£30) after selling the 002 (£15) but you can shop around for less - what will annoy you is that only the lead is different.
