ccrt700
« on: 23 August 2009, 11:55:58 »

well thanks everbody for the warm welcome to the forum ;D
my omega came with the ccrt700 (phillips siemans stereo) with phone kit , still atached and blaupunkt cd changer in the boot.
the guy i bought it off had got the car from a friend in leu of money owed and when i bought it he said he didn,t know the code for the stereo.
however, i found a scrap of paper in the center box, with radio code written on it, and a 4 digit code.
ive tried the method described on here, to activate the code but to no avail  :(
all i get is the "safe" message on the dash display when the radio is off, and "radio safe" when its switched on
i have been using the keypad on the right of the unit to enter the code, the changer in the boot will eject the mag and try and load when re inserted.
i have a spare head unit i can stick in it but it would be nice to use the original equipment.
also, how the hell do you set the clock on the dash display ?, i cant figure it out, and its stuck on 0.00 and the date is stuck on 1998 (the year the car was made)
well thanks for reading this, and any advice given  :y

You should have 2 codes, one fro the head unit & another for the CD changer in the boot. When/if you get the radio working it'll sort the time out itself when you tune into a RDS station eg Radio 1/2/3/4 etc

If you've followed the description from the forum you should be right. Are you using the correct code in the correct place? Go steady too, you only get 10 attempts. It should count down the number of attempts left.

ok i can only hope its the right code
have tried this:  ignition off, radio off, press and hold "AS" button, radio on, release "AS" button , enter code using keypad, switch radio on, the key was in the ignition whilst doing this, have also tried with ignition on,
always same result, radio goes from "SAFE" to "RADIO SAFE" ,  no try attempt countdown :-?

You need to do as you have done, wait for the bleep and then when it says 'RADIO SAFE' leave it. This may well take up to 10 hours I believe!

I had to wait 3 hours I think for mine to switch to the code input.

Then it will show (x)----

x being the number of tries you have remaining

Hope that makes sense

Maybe all 10 attempts have been used up. DaveDND I think is the man you now need to speak to.  ;)

RADIO SAFE is indeed all attempts used up and radio now locked.

Absolute pig to decode I`m afraid, but one that can be done though if you follow this link

How odd, mine said SAFE when switched on, then when I pressed AS and on it showed RADIO SAFE, so I left it and after about 3 hours was presented with the code input screen.

It is so many times, each doubles in time or something like that, so after 10 attempts around a million minutes  :o

It may be worth leaving the ign on all day (turn off ign, and wait timer starts over again), obviously with battery charger on battery!

IIIRC, longest wait time on ccrt700 is 640m (so just shy of 11hrs).  If it still won't accept input, all attempts been used, and Dave DND is probably one of the few people who can decode it...

Yes, but do not think you get infinate attempts at this. RADIO SAFE means codelocked, and the penalty timer is then active. After a period of time between 2 mins and 10 hours another code entry attempt is allowed. You have a maximum 10 chances to enter this before radio permanently locks.

Now, heres the thing - there are less than a handful of people in the world that can decode this unit, and it is based on the following.

Send it for decoding before 5 attempts have been used, and there is a 95% chance that you will get it back with a working code number.

Send it for decoding after all 10 attempts have been used up, and there is only a 50% chance that you will get it back with a working code number.

Send it for decoding after 10 attempts have been used and you have read and tried various idiot reports about an engineers number or other online codes, and there is less than a 1% chance that you will get it back with a working code number, as this trick usually renders the unit irrecoverable.

Ahh yes, I know this, was just saying that mine showed RADIO SAFE and yet I still got the opportunity to input my code. I just had to wait.

As said, if you wait for 11hrs and still it shows RADIO SAFE then yes, decoding is the only way.  :y

CCRT700 has a number pad like your phone and you enter the code directly
