Hi all
Just bought a 1997 tourer and the dot matrix screen looks like an early computer game with lost pixels. Anybody know where I can get a replacement from? What sort of prices are they?Also is it much of a job to replace?

On my Omega with fixed steering column I had to take the steering wheel off to take the instrument cluster out. I have seen claims that if you have a tilting column that the cluster will come out without taking the wheel off.

If you do take the wheel off then you have to take the airbag off first & then use a puller to get the wheel off the splines (don't hit the column to free it or you will shear the pin in the collapsible section of the column)

Have a look in the parts for sale section. You're likely to find someone breaking with the part you need.

You will have to identify which type of display you have, as there are different versions.

Not much of a job really. You'll have to remove some air vents and a few screws to get the dash out. Haynes also mentions you have to remove the steering wheel to remove the dash but I managed to do mine without removing the wheel.

I agree with Bumbazor, no need to remove the steering wheel. Remove the top cowelling from the steering surround and then as you free the dash panel just tip the top out slightly first and it'll come out

97 one with missing pixels, that will be type with computer lines below radio info line, and thus a 2 yellow/black connector setup.

Any full size MID with yellow and black connector should do. Getting one with right programming is probably too much to ask I reckon.

Why is there a variance, I can see that some would have xenon inputs but is there much else that can be different between models?

No yellow/black connector ones have HID headlights.  In fact, the only settings on these earlier ones from memory is engine size and gearbox type.  Settings on earlier types is purely around the fuel computer calcs, and being able to display gearbox errors

Wholeheartedly agree    I can take my dash out in under 4 minutes now...
