pressed my tm button mid call, via telematics, this morning, and the tm cut in over the call which was muted. Same with the bleep. Is that right? I guess i would prefer it that way?

Mine does the same.
No telematics just bluetooth kit, wired via TM box to CCR2006 HU.

also noticed that pressing the tm button when the head unit is off, truns hu on, and likewise when approaching a junction with head unit off, it turns on to hear the announcement, with no input from me what so ever, smart :y

Thats a std feature of all Vauxhall HUs - as soon as the mute line goes active, it turns on stereo to deal with incoming audio
